Who We Are
Erik T. Potter
Erik Potter is a graduate of Boston College where he received a bachelor’s degree in political science and philosophy. Upon completing his undergraduate studies Mr. Potter attended Suffolk University Law School where he received his Juris Doctorate in 2005. He is a licensed Massachusetts attorney with his own boutique real estate law practice in Massachusetts. In addition to his J.D., Mr. Potter has been a licensed real estate broker since 2005.
Mr. Potter has been involved with real estate related transactions in one capacity or another since 2000. During that time he has acted as a real estate rental agent; a real estate sales broker; a property manager for multi-families, distressed properties and large apartment complexes; and, most notably as an attorney whose practice has ranged from representing large banking institutions in foreclosure and bankruptcy proceedings to the representation of individual buyers and sellers on residential real estate transactions. Additionally, a large part of his practice is related to the representation of clients specializing in “hard money” lending in Massachusetts.
In response to the last economic downturn and the resulting overly stringent conventional underwriting standards, Mr. Potter launched MPL Capital Management in late 2009 in order to address what he recognized was an increasing demand for an online resource for localized and private real estate lending solutions for real estate investors and “flippers”. Over the last five years MPL Capital Management has become the premier hard money lending resource in Massachusetts and has seen significant growth each year. This success is a result of Mr. Potter’s transparency, honesty and knowledge of the private lending sector.
Warren Zhu
Mr. Zhu is the Founder of MassPrivateCapital.com, the direct lending and loan servicing arm of MPL Capital Management.
Mr. Zhu has more than more than a decade of experience in fixed income and income investment. Previously, he worked at Battery Global Advisors, Loomis Sayles, Harvard Management Company and UBS Global Asset Management. He did research, trading and managed portfolios across fixed income markets and income asset classes.
Mr. Zhu received his M.B.A. in finance from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, his M.S. in Computer Engineering in Michigan State University and his M.S. and B.S. in Physics from Fudan University in China. He is a CFA charter holder.
